My favorite moment from the excellent ‘Life of Mammals’ series presented by Sir David Attenborough. It shows how the San people of the Kalahari desert overtake their prey by out-running them down to complete exhaustion. The San are the last people on earth who still hunt this way. Enjoy.
You can read more about persistence hunting in the excellent ‘Born to Run’ by Christopher McDougall.

Even at that speed the action is pretty quick. The strange part is that it appears to take off before the kernel ‘fluffs’, I wonder why that’s the case…
Also, now I’m hungry.

Remember that huge volcano that erupted in Iceland earlier this year? I know how to spell it – ‘Eyjafjallajökull’ – but please don’t ask me how to pronounce it because I have absolutely no idea. Sean Stiegemeier took some gorgeous high definition time-lapse photography of the eruption and it’s definitely worth checking out.
