Le Taxidermiste

This bizarre, gorgeous short created at Supinfocom Arles by Paulin Cointot, Dorianne Fibleuil, Antoine Robert and Maud Sertour is packed to the gills with gobs of subtle, pleasing visual detail. Full-screen is a must. ENJOY!

P.S. Our Supinfocom feed is pretty rad, you should definitely check it out.

“The authorities have always feared the animal buried deep down within us so they kept everyone from getting wind of this truth. People, who like me had found a ways to awaken these buried instincts, were driven away…”

Six third-year students – De François Barreau, Marion Delannoy, Claire Fauvel, Rachid Guendouze, Vincent Nghiem and Benoit Tranchet – at the esteemed French film school Gobelins created this fantastic animated short that reminds me (in all the best ways) of Mr. Hayao Miyazaki’s work. I’m confident you’ll enjoy it.

Project Noah

“Project Noah is a tool to explore and document wildlife and a platform to harness the power of citizen scientists everywhere”.

In other words, Project Noah is yet another way the internet is allowing people to gather their data and information and share it with the world, That data, in this case, is beautiful (and often trippy, of course) photos of nature at it’s most intriguing and complex. Check out their full gallery for more, and see what people are submitting to the site currently.

Musicothérapie

This animated short from Clement Picon, Amael Isnard and Manuel Javelle is infectious, high-energy and contains heaping doses of bizarre. Resistance is futile. Just let go.

Animals

A regular reader of the site, alex, was kind enough to email us the contents of a personal bookmarks folder he curated named ‘trippy shit man’.  This video was included in those links and, let me assure you, he categorized it correctly.  My favorite part is definitely the skiing ostriches.

Originally broadcast on January 1st, 2011 between 4:00 and 4:30am (on the reliably awesome [ adult swim ]) Animals is a strange visual journey indeed.  Ten points if you spot the Cyriak.  You’ll also find Blockhead‘s excellent video for their tune ‘The Music Scene’ in there which was posted here in full HD back in October.  So definitely check that out if you haven’t watched it yet.

Thanks again, alex!

All Glory To The Hypnotoad!

In all reality, it’s an Amazon horned frog, but I still can’t look away

Indubitably

The crew over at Berkley Illustration deserve some props for the wonderful and absurd artwork they feature in their Etsy shop. This handsome fellow above is accompanied by this quote:

“After cataract surgery ten years ago, this cheetah realized that an eye patch can be a real conversation starter with the ladies. His eye has long since healed but his social calendar remains quite full”

Love the quirkiness or these guys, and if I had to pick a favorite it would be this one. Check out their shop or read up on their blog for more info.
