In Our Talons

“You may not believe, but even we were scared at first.
It takes a lot of nerve to destroy this wondrous earth.
We’re only human; this at least we’ve learned.”

Playful and powerful stop-motion visuals directed by Alan Poon / haunting, honest and cautionary tunes by Bowerbirds.

Sing Sang Sung

French animation house, Mathematic, created this music video about the whimsical, peaceful, rambling journey of a black dot for two of their fellow countrymen, Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel a.k.a. Air.  Ingesting this healthy dose of happy tunes and gorgeous high-definition visuals is an all-around great way to start your week. Enjoy!

Myq Kaplan is funny

Apparently Myq Kaplan was a top-five finalist on Last Comic Standing. I don’t watch that show but I’m assuming he was just as funny there as he is in the above video. Myq’s material is smart, clever and socially conscious. Oh and it has puns – glorious, glorious puns.

Dynamite

A good friend, Dev, sent me this video over Facebook and I knew, after only watching it for thirty seconds, that it’d be perfect right here on The Tripatorium™. It’s three-and-a-half minutes of good times.

Tunes by Kraak & Smack on Jalapeno Records‘s milestone 100th release, visuals courtesy of Henk Loorbach and the talented folks at Superelectric. CHEERS!

Sahara Wonderland

zoomion had the fantastic idea to shoot some gorgeous hd footage of the Sahara desert and then set it to the tribal sounds of SaReGaMa. Nice.

If you’re interested in any location/technical details there’s lots to read on the video’s Vimeo page and if you want to watch ‘Sahara Wonderland’ on your fancy big screen TV then you’re in luck because zoomion was kind enough to host free, high quality downloads in both 720p and 1080p. Cheers, guys – thanks!

Codehunters

Codehunters was broadcast as both a standalone short film and as branding for the MTV Asia Music Video Awards by Ben Hibon and super-talented crew over at Axis Animation. It’s one of my all-time favorite animated shorts and won the Golden Nica for Computer Animation/Visual Effects in 2007. Enjoy!

Warm Signal

“A short abstract movie dealing with nature and maritime creatures, metamorphosis and transformation – it connects art and science. Strong emphasis on sound, related to the idea of visual music.”

Silke Sieler, a German ‘motion graphics designer’, created this video as his diploma thesis for his studies in media design at the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz. I sure hope he got top marks because it’s really, really good. Music by Apparat.

Eple

One of my all-time favorite music videos from one of my all-time favorite electronic acts, Röyksopp. Both the imagery and music is warm and comforting – it’s a feel good journey all the way around. Enjoy!

The Fungus Among Us

Thought you folks would enjoy some gorgeous HD goodness from Planet Earth about jungle fungus. The main star of the show is the uber-spooky cordyceps which seems as if it was invented for an episode of X-Files. Other than that it’s Sir David Attenborough doing his thing alongside beautifully captured time-lapse footage. You can’t go wrong, really.

Un tour de manège

Another stunner from french school of awesome, Gobélins. This tale about growing up, love and loss of innocence was lovingly crafted, completely without dialogue in a beautiful watercolor aesthetic, by De Nicolas Athane, Brice Chevillard, Alexis Liddell, Françoise Losito and Mai Nguyen with sound design by Vincent Hazard and music from Pablo Pico. It’s gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS stuff – CHEERS!
