“On the planet Zig 5 a life span can last mere minutes, there are vicious predators everywhere, and no one stops to smell the roses because the flowers have legs and run away. This is a strange place located on the edge of known space. The Intergalactic Wildlife Service sends Naturenauts there to document the world in all it’s unruly glory and many are sacrificed in their quest for knowledge and rare vid footage.”
From the wonderfully-weird Fifteen Pound Pink Productions. Enjoy!

“People say, ‘I’ve never been in a fight’ and what that really means is that they’ve never really risked themselves beyond a comfortable existence physically…[Being] somewhere where you [can] have an ultimate loss [or] where you can be killed or maimed is [to have] an experience that builds courage.”
From the documentary series ‘California is a place.’ by Drea Cooper and Zackary Canepari.

Julian Briggs was kind enough to submit this Bilal video for our perusal. It’s directed by super-talent Flying Lotus and Erykah Badu makes a cameo appearance which is rather nice. Enjoy!
Thanks, Julian!

It’s difficult to get your mind around just how big stuff in our solar system is – never mind in the rest of the universe – which is why I love videos like this one from Brad Godspeed which shows how big some of the planets would appear in the sky if they orbited earth at the same distance as the moon.
Many thanks to Kenaldo for sending it in. Cheers!

After some quick sleuthing with Google Goggles I discovered that the origin of this fantastic illustration was as the cover of ‘Great Science Fiction by Scientists’.

David Kaplan takes gorgeous photographs of the Swiss landscape – my favorites are the time lapses of clouds he takes at night. See lots more on his Flickr stream or website.

Anthony F. Schepperd (of ‘The Music Scene’ fame) created another stunning video for Ninja Tune, this time for Philadelphia-based Ape School.
NSFW WARNING: There’s nothing especially naughty about this video, but I imagine your boss would frown on you watching anything with large towers comprised only of breasts while on the clock.

This animated short from Clement Picon, Amael Isnard and Manuel Javelle is infectious, high-energy and contains heaping doses of bizarre. Resistance is futile. Just let go.

Master Iller took some visuals from René Laloux and Roland Topor’s 1973 Cannes Film Festival special jury prize winning trip-fest, La Planète Sauvage and set it to Yes‘s epic 1971 psychedelic rambler Starship Tropper. It’s vintage good times, folks!
Thanks for sending it in, Master Iller!
